The popularity of “Under the Big Top” on Carnival Celebration isn’t surprising. The experience has it all, from beautiful costumes to riveting choreography. For the stage media, we wanted to embellish the experience’s magical themes.
We aimed to blend the digital media so closely with the set design, it would be hard to tell where the physical ends and the digital begins. That way, our media creates its own kind of magic, too.
For example, reimagining shapes from a stage prop’s intricate beveling into the digital design.
It was an honor to be able to work so closely with Show Director Paul Roberts and help bring his vision to life. We also want to call out Brian Monahan for the brilliant lighting work, Jack Doyle for the indelible set design and Clay Tipton for the seamless programming.
From music sets to pre-shows to the main show, The Magnificent Circus, Under the Big Top is truly an unforgettable experience. Congratulations to everyone who was and is a part of making it a success!
